About the JCCCNC

Founded in 1973, the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (JCCCNC), located in San Francisco's historic Japantown, strives to meet the evolving needs of the Japanese American community through offering programs, affordable services and facility usage.

THE MISSION OF THE JCCCNC 

To manage and maintain a multi-service community center which is owned and operated by the Japanese American community

To organize and provide educational, cultural, recreational and social programs that meet the growing needs, interests and concerns of the community

To preserve and promote the Japanese American cultural and historical heritage

To enhance understanding and appreciation among the Japanese American community, American public and people of Japan

To provide administration and program space for non-profit organizations in the community 

The JCCCNC currently offers over 100 classes, programs and events on an annual basis and is one of the leading organizations in the state addressing the preservation of the Japanese American community and cultural heritage. By acting as a focal point for the community, operates seven days a week and offers services and its facility to over 185,000 individuals and over 80 different non-profit organizations annually.

In cooperation with these organizations, the JCCCNC is able to provide an array of programs including traditional and contemporary Japanese cultural arts, after-school activities and recreation for children and youth, community festivals, exhibits and forums, social services for immigrants, performing arts, as well as a number of social activities for community members of all ages.

Events include Cherry Blossom Festival Basketball Jamboree (April); Kodomo No Hi Children's Day Festival (May); Nikkei Open Golf Tournament (June); Track Meet (June); Annual Dinner (September); Halloween Festival (October) and Mochitsuki (December).
